Eggnog Cookie Cutouts

3 cups AP flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 cup sugar
1 cup softened butter
1 egg, lightly beaten
3 tbsp eggnog
1/2 tsp rum extract
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg and sugar. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Stir in the beaten egg, rum extract, vanilla extract, and eggnog. Mix well. Chill for several hours or overnight.

Use powdered sugar to "flour" the area you will be rolling your dough on. Roll out dough to 1/4 thickness. Cut into shapes. Place on a cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes until lightly browned. Allow to cool before frosting.

These cookies are wonderful just as they are but if you want to fancy them up with a little frosting try this Eggnog Frosting Recipe.

Eggnog frosting

3 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup softened butter
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp rum extract
1-2 tbsp eggnog

Combine butter, vanilla, rum extract, and eggnog, blend well. Add the powdered sugar 1/2 cup at a time until desired consistency is reached.

Frost away!!
